What is a Physician who practices Aesthetic Medicine?
Just about everyone knows what Botox and laser hair removal is today, but many do not yet know the term "aesthetic doctor."
An aesthetic doctor is a well trained medical professional who specializes in minimally invasive procedures and treatments for a variety of medical conditions which improve and preserve skin health and promote a fresh youthful appearance so you can look and feel your best.
These physicians have completed medical school and residency. Additional years of training and experience in aesthetic medical care qualifies these doctors to become experts and provide the highest quality care for their patients.
This modern medical specialty provides a broad range of services. Aesthetic doctors treat skin conditions such as acne, rashes, eczema, burns, vein disease, wounds and much more. Benign and malignant skin lesions are diagnosed and treated through a variety of surgical and non surgical procedures.
Many aesthetic physicians have extensive medical training to evaluate, diagnose and treat underlying causes for skin conditions and aesthetic concerns. Emphasis is placed on early detection, treatment and prevention.
AESTHETIC PROCEDURES FOR THE FACE/NECK
An aesthetic doctor can take care of your face, whether you are in your twenties and concerned about future signs of aging or you have noticed changes in your skin such as lines, wrinkles, loose skin, irregular pigment and other conditions which you consider unsightly. From simple injection procedures like Botox and dermal fillers (Restylane/Perlane) to more advanced procedures using laser devices, the goal is to reverse signs of aging and environmental damage and create a fresh/youthful appearance.
It is commonly believed that only women go in for these procedures, but they are becoming extremely popular with men as well. As men age, they develop lines, wrinkles and sagging skin just like women, so it only makes sense that they would want to preserve their youthful appearances as well.
Normal aging and environmental damage (especially sun exposure) lead to facial lines, wrinkles and loss of collagen around eyes, forehead, and mouth. Over time our skin texture can change, discoloration or age spots may appear along with many other problems. These conditions often lead to changes in our appearance and facial features.
It is not uncommon to develop an appearance or facial expressions which cause you to look tired, stressed, angry or sad. Eliminating these features can improve the way others perceive you and improve your self confidence which enhances your inner physical and emotional health and motivates you to pursue a healthier lifestyle.
It is NOT all about vanity and our appearance. The goal is to feel and look as good as possible, regardless of age.
Our skin is the largest human organ. Keep it healthy!
LASER TREATMENTS are provided for a variety of medical issues, including permanent hair removal, tattoo removal, reduction of wrinkles/lines, skin tightening, correction of pigment changes, elimination of age spots, treatment of broken capillaries, rosacea, acne, skin contour, scars and more.
VARICOSE VEIN TREATMENT is most effective with sclerotherapy; however, small clusters of veins may respond better with laser treatment. These procedures are complicated and should be provided by a physician who has adequate experience. Often two or more sessions of sclerotherapy are needed to eliminate varicose veins. Surgical correction is often not necessary; however, Dr. Williams will evaluate your condition and refer you for an ultrasound evaluation if a more significant vascular problem is suspected.
Unsightly varicose veins may range from small spider veins to larger, tortuous, bulging veins.
These dysfunctional veins may cause medical conditions such as leg swelling, restless leg syndrome and pain.
Varicose veins tend to worsen over time.
Many patients feel self conscious about the unsightly appearance and avoid clothing which reveal their legs.
Early treatment and regular maintenance/prevention will provide you will a healthy vascular system and avoid complications later in life.
Varicose veins can be treated safely with a series of injections (Sclerotherapy). Surgery is often not needed.
PERMANENT HAIR REMOVALhas become popular for today's modern population. Shaving consumes time and often leads to scrapes/cuts or bumps/rashes from 'razor burn'. A series of laser treatments can permanently remove hair and leave your skin feeling smooth with a healthier texture. Each person has different skin types and will respond differently to laser treatment. Aesthetic physicians can carefully assess your skin and make the best recommendations for hair removal.
OTHER SERVICES PROVIDED BY AESTHETIC PHYSICIANS:
Some aesthetic doctors offer ongoing programs that combine unique supplements, aesthetic procedures, creams, lotions, and other products developed or promoted by a given doctor. Not all doctors will offer these services, but the best ones will have at least some programs which will target your specific needs.
It must be noted that an aesthetic doctor is not the same as someone who simply gives Botox treatments at a spa or who can be hired for cheap prices. An aesthetic doctor is well trained with a medical degree, residency training and additional years of training and experience. They offer a wider variety of services in a safe, medically sound environment.
