WHAT ARE THEY?????
Graduated compression stockings are medically designed to promote healthy circulation, decrease leg swelling (edema and lymphedema), relieve restless legs at night, reduce development of varicose veins, prevent blood clots, improve endurance and decrease leg fatigue, reduce musculo-skeletal injuries and much much more..............
WHO NEEDS TO WEAR THEM?????
Patients who have a history of varicose veins or have underwent treatment for varicose veins with surgery or injections.
Patients with a history of blood clots.
Women during pregnancy (maternity stockings are available in a variety of colors and styles)
Anyone who is sitting, standing or laying in bed for prolonged periods of time. This may include time during your job, while you travel, when you are recovering from an illness and are less mobile.
Patients who experience leg/ankle swelling
If you suffer from restless legs at night (an uncomfortable sensation that makes you want to shift position and move legs. This often interferes with sleep which can lead to further medical issues)
Active people or athletes who want the benefit of quicker recovery after forms of exercise, increased endurance and limitation of injuries.
Patients who suffer from foot pain, arch support issues, ankle or knee arthritis or tendinitis
HOW DO THEY WORK?????
The success of wearing these stockings result from the medical technology and design. The term "graduated compression" means the pressure is higher at the foot/ankle and gradually lessens as the stockings extend up the calf and thigh. This design mimics normal flow of blood through the veins and lymphatic system from the toes back to the heart. The stockings come in different strengths of compression weight which best suits your needs. The stockings are also available in a variety of lengths, styles and colors. There are open toe, closed toe, open foot, full foot, full calf, thigh high and full length to waist. There are newly designed athletic socks with this same technology.
WHERE CAN I PURCHASE THESE STOCKINGS???? and COST????
Avoid spending a fortune of these products!!! Some pharmacies, retail stores, medical supply stores may charge well over $100 per pair. Additionally, NEVER wear stockings which don't feel comfortable. Proper sizing is important; however, many stores do not properly measure patients and charts for sizing are often misleading. You may contact my office (706-723-1061) to purchase stockings. I offer returns and exchanges so you are guaranteed satisfaction.
Sample swatches of colors and styles are available at office for you to view.
