Do you have any skin lesions that are unsightly? Irritated? Changing in size/shape/color? Do they become crusty or bleed? Do you have spots or sores that won't heal? Do you suffer from a rash?
Some of these lesions are benign; however, you may have a cancerous or pre-cancerous lesion. Some lesions are benign, but continue to cause itching/irritation or bleeding. Skin sores and rashes may be caused by infection.
Any new or existing lesion should be examined by a doctor.
Most lesions are easily removed. Delayed treatment may complicate treatment.
If you are diagnosed with a pre-cancerous or cancerous lesion, a routine thorough skin examination is important to document size/shape and other characteristics of lesions. A physician must spend adequate time with you to fully evaluate your skin. Each area can be monitored for changes.
Most insurance covers both the evaluation and management of skin lesions and wounds.
Wounds can appear as a simple skin lesion or an advancing sore/ulceration. Sores and wounds can become chronic if untreated or not properly diagnosed.
Many wounds develop from an underlying medical problem. Proper wound diagnosis and treatment is needed to heal these areas and prevent new wounds.
Please call our office and schedule an appointment for evaluation/treatment of any of these issues.
